GOAT, SHEEP HARVESTING FOR FESTIVALS

GOAT, SHEEP HARVESTING FOR FESTIVALS

We are Winfield Alberta  based goats, sheeps and lamb meat supplier. We provide goats thats are from a closed herd, and never from auctions or random farms you can trust a consistent and safe, disease-free product from us for your family. We offer sustainable goat, raised and slaughtered on our farm specially for your family. Because our goats are from a closed herd, and never from auctions or random farms you can trust a consistent and safe, disease-free product from us for your family.

We follow all the Alberta Governments on-farm slaughter licensing and legislation but we go beyond that. We also have National certification on Farm food safety and Alberta safe food and handling. And we have closed herd, which means they all come from our farm and we have limited supply.

We cater to traditional harvesting for festivals, family dishes and recipes.

Take the stress of looking for random goats online and risking not getting one in time. Never settle for frozen meat slaughtered months ago on a ship and imported to Canada. Get ALL the parts of your goat when you order.  We have a limited supply and because we must follow Government Regulations, we require slow growth and guarantee to our customers.

How it works:

Because all farms can’t risk going bankrupt, and goats are expensive to raise in Alberta there is a hesitancy for farms to invest in goat meat. Serving Hindu, Muslim and ethnic communities, the fresh products they want has been a challenge with government legislation. I have been working for years to fix legislation so we can provide service and fresh products our customers want.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) helps ensure the customer always gets a fair price, is guaranteed a healthy goat and the farmer doesn’t go bankrupt.

By paying for your goat 4 months to a year or even longer ahead of time you are assured a good animal for a fair price and the farm is assured they are only investing what they can sell. This avoids farmer losses and price inflation with unstable supply and demand. Because you buy directly from the farmer, you save cost and stress to the animal on transporting animals to butchering facilities and grocery stores. This takes away wasteful packaging, food waste and energy freezing meat. The cross-contamination is greatly reduced because the animal is fresh  and not handled through different facilities. That also means you can take all parts of the animal; head, feet, organs, intestines, stomach and blood, labeled “as bait” and make your own decisions on what to do with it. We can do this safely unlike a large factory, because it’s fresh and straight from the farm.

As a farmer, my time and energy is focused on raising 1000s of healthy grass fed, naturally raised goats on pastures where they play and grow. We birth each goat here on our farm and graze them all summer. That is 14 months of planning, love and work to get you a delicious goat on your table. That means we only have a limited number of goats. The more people buy for future years the more we can birth and plan for….. so get your orders in for the next 3 years now so we can grow to serve the entire community. As our demand increases we will partner with farms that have the same standard for disease free organically raised goats but to do that we need lots of orders a year in advanced. If you Farm goats and want to do future partnership please email me.

The website does all the booking accounting for us so we can focus on the animals. We can only answer questions once in a while so please be patient.

Then, before festivals. We have to schedule staff and book butchers to help quickly slaughter and deliver everyone’s orders within a few days of the festival. This takes a lot of planning. We have picked up locations for everyone to meet and get their fresh animal.

If someone wants to slaughter their own animal for a religious purpose we can arrange. All of the meat is uninspected, and can not be served in stores or restaurants but is allowed for home consumption. Households are limited to 12 goats a year in compliance with the Alberta Meat Act. If you need inspected meat for a restaurant let us know and we can book regular or large orders with AlbertaFreshMeat.ca
